Joseph Israel Fashions
The Joseph Israel show has a neon pink program, neon
pink glow in the lights and, not surprising, the first few
outfits are glow-in-the-dark opalescent lurex strapless
and v-neck knit dresses that are shown with the lights
off!
The whole collection in fact keeps up the theme of neon
brights. Some pieces are solids in the neon yellow or
hot pink while others show an ‘airbrushed’ design that
reminded me of laser light beams shining through a
foggy night.
The collection is a clean sleek execution of the idea and
details like a restrained group of sequins on cardigans
and skirts punctuate the simple lines and wool felt split
skirts and wool jersey dresses.
I loved this collection throughout probably because I
felt I could wear a large selection from it. Visko
crouching opposite me nodded in appreciation of the
dark denim pieces fringed with delicate cream-colored
mono-filament fibers and even the items that did not
scream ‘neon’ like the felt slim pant and brushed wool
and Lycra slim pant were great wardrobe basics.
There were Millennium-inspired liquid metal
shimmery dresses but such an unforgiving fabric
would be the kiss of death to anyone over a size 2.
The battery powered neon finale gunmetal colored
prom-style dress with neon underlit skirt was just
enough spectacle and innovation to leave us with a
smile on our faces.
